CMIP and CORDEX

Climate projections are elaborated by international collaborations between research organisations that are referred to as projects or experiments. The major ones are:

CMIP6, which stands for Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 6, which is the basis of the upcoming in 2021 sixth assessment report of the IPCC.
CMIP5, which stands for Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 5, on which the fifth assessment report of the IPCC report relies upon.
CORDEX for Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment. In short, CORDEX is a high resolution version of the CMIP5 limited to some specific regions.
